Snapshots!!!

So people have been asking me recently.

Augustine, why do you not like taking photos?

Of course some of you already know the rationale behind this quirky behavior, but I thought that I'd just share it, since its been a while since I posted here. Speculate all you want, but its got nothing to do with ghosts in photos.

The fundamental reason why I do not like to take photos is because I personally feel that they only help you forget those memories in the photo. If I want to remember someone or the memories I've had with that person, I'll remember it in my head using my own willpower. I have no use for pieces of paper telling me who is this, who is that. If I relied on photos, subconsciously I would forget about the memories I've had because I can always look back at the photos I've taken. No you can't. Those photos may be destroyed or misplaced (you lost them), and what are you going to do?

And then you might say, "But Augustine (or whatever nickname you have for me), I could just remember those memories in my head once the photos are lost, right?"

If the photos are lost, that means you forgot about them, you misplaced them, if you forgot about them, how are you able to remember that all of a sudden, especially when you have so many photos. Unless you are able to remember every single picture you took, otherwise...

In my opinion, photographs are a waste of good ink... and good paper.

Of course... Secondary, photographs open up an entire new platform... for people to judge you. Whats on a photograph is your looks, and that just leaves you open for people to judge. Such is the reason why I hardly appear in photos, and even more importantly, why I do not place photos of myself on YouTube and the Internet. So that I can be recognized for the things I do. Rob has said this before, just saying it again.

For YouTube, I wish to entertain using my videos, not through a photo of me. Its the videos that make you want to subscribe, not some photograph of a miserable pile of secrets. Photographs are also the reason why YouTube users like Magibon can get so many subscribers even though her videos are... just watch one of her videos, I am at a loss for words here.

Its 12.30am in the morning, and I really do not have much to say anymore. I just hate photos. There is one I cannot avoid taking, though. Class photos.

IT Show 2009
Friday, March 13, 2009, 11:27 PM

So I went to the IT Show 2009. So I went to visit Mr Jian Xiong at the SanDisk/Razor booth, but didn't buy anything. I did realize that I got cheated of 8 dollars when I saw the Ultra II Pro Duo 8GB for sale there for 67 dollars. I BOUGHT THE EXACT SAME ITEM LAST WEEK AT 75! =_=

But of course, looking back and forth, trying to find bargains, I actually wasn't too interested in many things. I actually had in mind what I wanted to purchase. So I did.

A logitech 1000dpi optical wired mouse
XFX Nvidia Geforce 9600GT

The mouse is no big deal, but the graphics card is a big deal. Its a budget graphics card, however, it only lags behind the 9800GT by a few fps, yet it is 40 dollars cheaper. I suggest getting it, but make sure that your power supply is powerful enough.

My present graphics card is a 7600GT. I spent $159 on it, to those of you who know what I'm talking about will say its cheap. Those who do not know will scream at its price. Keep your opinion. Its a card that will serve me well, at least for 2 years. I am worried about the heat though, I'll admit. But the 9600GT is the card you want to buy when you have less than $200. Of course people like Yan Wei are rich so they got a GTX 280. That's like $600 dollars, don't talk to me.

But all in all, the IT Show is decent. And the girls are pretty? I really do not understand those Multi National Companies. Whats the point of using girls to sell electronics. If its good, then people will buy. Not good, no deal then. Not to mention that they have no idea what graphics card I want, until I point it right out to them. Alas, that's not the issue, I just wanted to say that I bought good stuff today.

Alas, I'm going back there again on Sunday, which is the last day, to see what *else I can grab =)

An open invitation
Wednesday, March 11, 2009, 7:21 PM

Wow 2 posts in a day, I must be really excessive here.

The IT Show 2009 is this weekend. Anybody in Singapore interested in going? Probably a Friday or Saturday. Do note that once we reach Suntec Singapore. It only makes sense that we split up and look around at our own pace. There is no point in following each other around. After that meet up again for a meal. And maybe a movie if thou so desires, eh?

Hope to bump into some familiar faces there during this weekend =)

On another note, I read about Shadow Sides in my English test paper. Not quite the official term there, but close enough. Paternalism blah blah.

The future of this blog is currently pending, stand by.

Oh and by the way, some of you did ask me a fundamental question last week which I was lazy enough to answer.

How did I come to choose my blog name?

Simple, because it sounds cool. Here are 2 articles for the people who asked me the question. Lazy to hyperlink them so just copypasta(or copy & paste) the addresses

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypervelocity
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firestorm
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96OljGZapv4

The last link is a video which I cannot put on this blog because they disabled embedding. That's because Channel 4 is dumb. Its about a game you can try playing in any country, including Singapore. The video in the link is Urban Sprinting. A brief explanation.

All you need is to unscrew the security tag of a clothing in a particular shop. Take the tag and set off the alarm, and then you try to get away from the security guard. You did not take anything (besides a security tag), but they'll still chase you, so RUN!

Watch the video for a "demonstration".

I know you guys will love this video, it WILL make you laugh, I promise. I watched it after a bad day like today and I laughed. Theoretically speaking, you should laugh too. But practically speaking such is not always the case. After you're done, feel free to check out the other "Urban Sports" on YouTube.

Hope that answers your questions. Ciao.

My thoughts on the "matter"
1:20 PM

I thought I needed to make this post, so lets make it quick.

From an objective point of view, I agree that I may be at fault too. However, if you look at it from a subjective point of view, I was practically waiting for it to happen. It really isn't in my best interest for me to intervene with what Glauss was doing. I was having my term tests for the past few days. From a pragmatic point of view, I have the "right" to leave him behind so that I could study. But when it comes down to a personal level, did I? Nay, I never did. That, ironically, was a solution which turned out to be a mistake.

Objectively speaking, I was a little bit too slow and tardy. By the time I fully comprehended the direness of the situation Glauss had dragged me into, I tried to pull out on my own at first, which was my second mistake which set the gears of war turning. I admit, I should have pulled him out too, but at that point in time, I had a lot of things on my mind. Agreed that its not too great of an excuse, if you call it that, I'm just unwinding my thoughts.

So what made the gears spin faster? Laila came along, that was the second final straw, Some of you may agree that she could not keep her mouth shut, and that she was the root of the problem. Lets look at this from a critical standpoint shall we?

What if Laila hadn't come along? Would the situation not have escalated at all? Could we have kept it all under the carpet?

NO, it wouldn't, if some of you thought hard enough. Why? Because Glauss would have taken action as well, and even if I could stop him. I won't, for the one simple fundamental reason that its none of my business. Yet this reason which I had is highly contradicted by the fact that Glauss and I go quite a while back. I sided him in this episode, but should I have? Or should I have sided with Winee? Maybe I should have done what I do best, which is not to interfere. Now that I have made that clear, Laila can be safely taken out of the picture. Honestly she is hardly a threat in this fierce debate.

What was the final straw? Simple, I opened my mouth. That is 101% my fault, throw me apples for that. Had I not opened my mouth, there would be even more questions which I have absolutely no real answer to, so lets just skip that part. Subjectively speaking, its really isn't important if I opened my mouth or not, but that I had, that is the most important detail.

The part where Glauss and Winee thrashed it out, lets not go there. You see, many people do not understand the fundamentals of the problem. Both of them are actually playing into the hands of the community, people whom they have never met before. Granted, I have not met some of you in real life before, but that saga still highlights how jello important the identity of instigators are. Had we known who the REAL instigators were, it begs the primary question again, could I have pulled one of the parties out? Should I? I have no obligations to no single person in this world, except my parents. I'm sure you guys do too. Without knowing the real instigators, I can give you no answer as there is no "real" question.

Optimistically speaking, the 2 of them should get this high and under in about a month tops. Assuming you guys help me isolate them. Quarantine them, and most importantly, do not talk to either of them. Do not reply to any anonymous emails you may have received, and make all contact through PMs. Marc had just spoken to Laila recently, and she has agreed to keep mum about things. It was unfortunate, but it is necessary that we get up quick before the next wave of flamers hit.

Now, all that I ask, is that all of you guys play it cool, and look natural, like you always have. I am not the least bit happy about things in real life or online for that matter. Just take cover, and wait for Aaron's signal, alright? Take care.

Critical Bypass

Lockdown is currently on hold... Standby...

Just changed the song on the blog...

Song Title: Like This
Artist: X-ecutioners
Album: Revolutions
Release Date: 2004
I First Heard on: 2007

Unlike most people who listen to the things they hear on the radio, or on television shows, I listen to songs not played over the radio performed by all sorts of people. That is why I hate the Jonas Brothers and all the Disney teenage singers (Look around the Internet and be SURPRISED at how many people actually hate the Jonas Brothers!). I do not let the radio tell me what to listen, not to let Media select my type of music. Instead, I listen to whatever the hell I want, to put it bluntly (and a little rudely).

Why am I telling you all this? Actually its meant for just one person to read, and that person...

With the exception of "Pictures of You" by The Last Goodnight, all the songs showcased on my blog are songs which I enjoy listening to, so that should give the reader an idea about my musical tastes =)

Also, it has come to my attention that some people listen to the whole complete song on my music playlist, while others listen to 30 second playbacks. That is absolutely rubbish in my opinion, but they is NOTHING I can do about it, I guess those of you who are affected by this will just have to suck it up, sorry, external factors guys.

Oh and by the way, since I'm changing the featured song to a hip hop song(as of the time of posting), I might as well feature another song which I like. Alright I lied, not really so much as in like, but consider it a funny moment, every time I hear this song I just smile to myself, enjoy =)

Every time I hear this song, I laugh. Then I start getting reminded of the Pokemon Jiggly Puff, which reminds me of pink cotton candy, which reminds me of strawberry whipped cream, and strawberry is my favorite fruit, and then everything just BOOM, heheheh =)

Sooner or later, I WILL put up a list of things (songs, pictures, movies, people), which make me laugh the moment I see or hear them. Things which will make me laugh the very moment I recognize them, they are that funny to me somehow.

And there you have it, let Will Smith's song be the first to lead the charge, peace out =)

DINO THUNDER, POWER UP!
Monday, March 2, 2009, 8:08 PM

In case you're wondering why Elsa (the woman in black in the first video) said to Tommy "Aren't you a little old for this, Tommy." Go watch the following Power Rangers.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
Power Rangers Zeo
Power Rangers Turbo

After you watch finish all 3 shows, about 200 plus episodes in all, then you will know why she called Tommy old =) Tommy Oliver is probably the favorite character and power ranger of many kids/adults who still watch the show, me included. People who have watched Power Rangers since they were little boys and girls ALL know who Tommy Oliver is.

He is THAT awesome, really!!!

As for Trent the White Dino Ranger, he says "Drago Dino Power" after he finishes morphing. As a little boy back then I could never catch that sentence cos its so noisy in the background.

Why am I showing this video to you? No, I'm not showing this to you, its a "want to watch then watch" kinda thing. No one is pointing a gun to your head telling you to watch. But it is true that I like Power Rangers, its ok you can laugh.

Ok I lied, actually I just thought that I might place some of my childhood here on this cesspit of a blog. Just in case some of you might be interested, but not to worry, the more secretive parts of me remain a secret.

I don't talk like this in real life, it makes me sound like a talkative douche woodpecker.

Power Rangers Dino Thunder is....... probably my fifth favorite Power Rangers show. What is the remaining top 4? Some of you know, others will have to guess =)

Oh and by the way... 6 more days to Total Lockdown. 3 more days to Self-Quarantine status.

Hlep anyone?

No that is not a typo error, I really need Hlep...

Lockdown sequence initiated, ETA 7 days, 144 hours. All hands lock-on, standby...

To be continued...
